Tusker Project Fame Show
Tusker project fame is a show that is aired every day starting from on Monday to Sunday. the show is all about music competition. Saturday show is usually the eviction night and Sunday is a performance night, after the performance, four that do not perform well are put on probation. Week days the contestants have training sessions with their faculty.
Contestants that were still in the academy when I started critiquing were:

The programme starts with a long wide shot of the contestant in the living room. Contestants have a training session with Atemo. There is a close up shot of each contestant singing. When they are singing together long wide shot is used. There is a close up of the trainer training.
Principal Hellen lesson
There is a long wide shot of the contestants seated. Close up of Hellen as she asks questions, pan left and right of the camera to view their expression. Some contestants are asked to move out and there is a camera tracking to follow the contestants as they move to the adjacent room where they are to practice.
Voice session with coach Kavutha
There is a long shot of all the contestants seated in the living room. Close up of coach Kavutha giving teaching a song . there is a tracking movement of the camera to view all the contestant singing. Medium shot of each contestant as they sing.
Free time
Aneth & Peter are outside the academy teasing each other and cracking jocks. Peter tells Aneth that she is interested in him. Aneth laughs loudly, cut away of Gaelle laughing from a distance. There is a close up Gabiro with earphones on training the song he is supposed to sing. Amelina, Valerie & steve are in the kitchen talking and encouraging Steve since he look stressed. Close up shot was used to show their facial expression.
Task briefing with Alex
Alex giving instruction on the shooting video event that they are supposed to do the coming week. Extreme close up of the camera they are to use. Close up of Alex as he shows them how to use the camera. Rehearsals of the songs they are to sing together. Tracking movement of the camera as each is singing. In general the lighting and sound was good.
Judges put on probation were Gabiro, Gaelle, Amelina, and Paleki because their performances were weak. Varying of shots were used e.g. close up to give a good focus on the contestants. The other mostly used was boom shot on the audience, and also long wide shot on each contestant on the stage performing. Camera movements that were used were panning left and right on the entire show room and audience. Tilting up and down of the camera to give a good view of the audience on what they are danced on and their use of the stage.

Msechu and Rachel in the kitchen cooking and teaching each other Swahili. Gaga and Davis playing and chasing each other in the living room. Long wide shot was mainly used so as to show the background. Aneth and Amelina are dancing in the dancing hall.

Sarakasi session
Contestant seated at the living room. They are being advised by a sarakasi dancer on how to be successful in the music industry. Pan left and right to view each contestant on how much attention they are paying to the advice they are given.
Maranatha training session
They play a game. Long wide shot of all contestants. Session was about team work. They are asked to pick a paper which had a letter on them. They were then asked to form a word from the letters together. They were asked what they have learnt from the game. Close up and extreme close up of each giving their opinion.
Free time
Contestant in the kitchen roasting meat and a cut away shot of Paleki and Steve singing. Long shot, then a zoom in shot of the roasted meat. Contestants in he living room dancing. They get a visit from a musician Alaine. The contestants are very happy and each contestant approaches her to welcome her in. medium shot of each contestant hugging Alaine. Alaine advices them on tips of being a good performers.
Gaga sings together with Alaine. Alaine asks Gaga to sing her song that she had sung the previous week and Alaine joins in the singing. The contestants are very happy and impressed.

Tusker Project fame show
Saturday night the show is usually eviction night, whereby the contestants who were on probation perform and one of them who performs poorly is evicted. The camera pans from left to right showing the entire audience. Boom shots were also used to give a good view of the audience. Mich and Sheillah who are the MC of the show open the show by introducing the contestants, judges, and faculty. Medium shot were used as Mich and Sheillah were talking.
Preview of the activities of the previous week; which were the visit to the HOT 96 studio, kiss 100, and shopping mall.
Sheillah introduced Gabiro to make the 1st performance. Gabiro performed “I believe I can fly” by R. Kelly. According to the judges performance, Gabiro performed very poorly. Some of the shots used were close up shot, long wide shot and boom shot. 2nd to perform was Aneth. Aneth’s performance was fair but she was blamed for wrong song choice. 3rd to perform was Gaelle. According to the judges, Gaelle performed poorly. 4th to perform was Gaga. Gaga performed poorly according to the judges. Varying shots were used, starting from long shot, medium shot and close up shot.
Contestants were asked what they think on their performance and their parting words. Contestants were then asked to stand centre stage. Representative of East Africa Mr. Mose was asked to read out the contestant that was saved by the public. The public saved Gaelle. The faculty refused to save a contestant and they said that the show will be a double eviction. The rest of the contestants only have a chance to save one contestant. The contestants save Gabiro. Aneth and Gaga were evicted and were the ones to leave the academy.

Coach kavutha music session
Voice training session. Close up of coach kavutha giving instruction on mastering of lyrics in songs and ad lib. Camera movement that was used was panning left and right so as to view the contestants the attention. Gaga is caught sleeping and she is asked to stand at the center of the circle with a pillow on her head. Full angle shot of her was used. The camera was tilted up and down to give a whole view of Gaga.
Long shot of Gaga, Rachel and Steve. Steve accuses Gaga of lack of discipline and laziness because she refused to clean the bathroom. Steve asks Rachel to intervene. Rachel tries to talk sense into the situation. Zoom in of the camera to a close up shot of the 3 of them arguing. Steve’s close up shot was poor since his head was cut (head room was not considered).

Atemi: master class
There was rehearse of they are to sing on Sunday. Steve sings and he is corrected. Each contestant sings his/her song and they are corrected to ensure that they sing in the right tone and key. Contestants receive a letter from the faculty. The letter contains some new rule and disciplinary measures for the contestants because of their poor performance on Sunday. Some of the rule were; no beverages and sugar. Contestants seem to be very disappointed. Close up shot of each contestant to show their disappointed face.

Tusker Project Fame
Programme begins with a presentation by a local musician known as the villager band. Variety of shots and camera movements were used as they perform. Sheillah and Dr. Mich introduce the programme. The theme of the show was culture ( Africa music). The contestants, judges, faculty, and band leaders are introduced. Dr. Mich introduces the contestants to perform their recorded new song (academy song). The song was called “winner”
The show kicks off with performance from Msechu, performing “Africa”. The performance according to the judges was good. 2nd to perform was Rachel, performing “I’m in love with a DJ” by Yvonne Chakachaka. Rachel’s performance was very good. 3rd to perform was Gaelle, performing “wale watu” by Chake. Performance to the judges was fairly good. 4th to perform was Steve, performing “Mario” by Franco. Steve’s performance according to the judges was spectacular. 5th to perform was Gabiro , performing “pole musa” by Daudi Kabaka. His performance according to the judges was poor. 6th to perform was Amelina, performing “nakai Nairobi”. Amelina performance was good according to the judges. 7th to perform was Paleki, performing “habibi” by Amrubia. Paleki performance was fairly good. Last to perform was Davis, performing “wemba” by Tabule. Davis performance was the best of the night.

EABL factory visit
Contestants enter the factory. Long shot is used to show them as they enter the factory. EABL safety consultant gives briefing of the safety measures that are to be adhered to in the factory. The contestants are taken around the factory and are shown different process of manufacturing e.g. packaging. The contestants are given costumes to wear. Long shot was mostly used to show view of the entire factory. Close up shot were constantly used to show how much concentration the contestants put on the study.

Long shot of each contestant singing and close up shot as well was used. Constant boom shots of the public/viewers were used as cut away to show their reaction towards the performances. During the time of eviction all the contestant on probation are asked to come centre stage. Long wide shot was used to show the contestants entourage. Close up shot was used to show their facial expression since one of them is to go home.

1st to sing was Amileena. She sung well according to the judges comment. The camera movement that was mostly used was tilting up and down, probably to show they are dressed and how they danced. 2nd to sing was Gabiro. Performance was poor according to the judges. 3rd to sing was Msechu. Performance was fairly good. 4th to sing was Gaga. Performance was weak. 5th to sing was Gaelle. Performance was weak. 6th to sing was steve. Performance was good. 7th to sing was Rachel. Performance was excellent. Close up shot of the judges as they give their comment. 8th to sing was Aneth. Performance was weak. 9th to sing was Paleki. Good performance. 10th to sing was Davis. Performance was fair.
After the singing, contestants were asked to come centre stage. Contestants on probation were said, close up shot of each contestant on probation was shown.
Principal Hellen session
Principal hellen criticizes the contestant of being off key. Hellen encourages those people on probation and tells them to work hard. Close up shot of those on probation and they seem to be very sad. Hellen asks the contestant on probation what they feel and a close up shot is used as they explain.

Coach Kavutha is angry because the contestants disrespected music trainer Atemi. Coach Kavutha quarrels them and the contestants apologies for their misbehavior. Music training session starts and the contestants stand to sing
Principal Hellen joins the team and after the singing is over, she asks the contestants to sit. Principal Hellen is angry because of the contestants misbehavior. She also argues the contestants to master the lyrics of the songs they sing. She goes on to remind the contestants their purpose in the academy. Principal Hellen tells the contestants that no one at anytime should walk out when a class session is on. Close up shot was used on principal Hellen as she quarrels the contestants also on every contestant to show their reaction.
Master class with Chris
Contestants were being taught a new song. They are seated as they sing. Msechu plays the guitar. The camera movement that was used panning left and right, probably to show those that are singing from those that are not. Coach Chris corrects the contestants and tells them of the importance of considering the context when writing a song.
Free time
Rachel asks Msechu to advice him on what he should do with the dress she is wearing to make it better. Amellina and Steve are playing in the girl’s bedroom. Long shot of the kitchen, tracking movement of the camera to track Aneth and Gaelle as they walk to the girl’s bedroom. Aneth vibe them on the happening outside the academy. They all start playing the game Steve and Amellina were playing ( fall, I catch you).
