The trip did not start on a very good note. I belive that Daystar is helping us to become proffesionals and therefore our expectations is that they should lead by example. The trip was booked one week in advance and that demanded that all necessary arrangements should have been done in time. I appreciate Mrs. Kowuor for apologizing, that means one thing to me; she takes students seriously!
I gained a wealth of information in KBC. Two particular places stood out for me; the kiswahili service studio and the mid morning presenter. He is on point! The way he read mukhutasari wa habari was really great. I learnt that in presenting you really have to concentrate with what you are doing. The second place was at the digital transmission place....can't recall the full name...i can only remember terrestial! I got to learn what is new in the broadcasting field. I really appreciated digital transmission. I need a decoder!.
In the Tv studios I really enjoyed myself seeing what i have only been reading about. I din't like their studio though. It din't look like a transmitting studio, looked so ancient! That aside, i was able to appreciate the different roles of persons involved in the production process. Above all, I appreciated the role of team work in production.
You guys were on point, asking very relevant questions. At one point, the mid morning presenter din't know what a condenser mic was!. At another point the man at the digital transmitting place had to really think to answer Erico's question.
My heartfelt appreciation to our facilitator for making that trip a reality.
